Zero Dark Thity
So, I'm looking on rotten tomatoes for this weeks dvd releases, and I see
Zero Dark Thirty on the list,
percentage of 93. Which is obviously ridiculous, so I thought it was just the main score, polluted by
critics who had been paid off to give a high score, and the user score would be much lower and would
more accurately reflect the absolute boredom experienced by my friends and I.
Sadly, it was not to be, and the score provided by users was 80%. I find this very confusing. Nothing
happens for 90 minutes of the movie. Nothing. It's a film about the office administration that took
place in the search for Osama Bin Laden. Regardless of the background setting, a movie about office
administration is not entertaining. Then at the end there's a 30-40 minute action sequence, which was
really good, and on it's own deserves the score given (Well maybe not the score given, but a good score
anyway). But it wasn't on it's own, it was preceded by an entire films worth of boredom. Definitely
shouldn't have received the score it did. And on top of all that, it won
54 awards. How? Why? It was
so boring. So, so boring.
Also the film was originally going to be about how the search for Bin Laden was completely pointless.
So it wouldn't have had the sequence at the end. It would have just been hanging around offices and
torture dens and I guess would have just kind of petered out with no obvious ending point until suddenly
you realise the credits are rolling and the lights have come on, signifying your release from it's
stranglehold of boredom.
